Stripping away the insulation on copper wire helps the resale value of the wire at recycling centers and junk yards. Large quantities of copper wire insulation are difficult to strip off without a wire stripping machine, however. These stripping machines make it simple and easy to cut off many yards of copper from any gauge in minutes. You can rent them at welding shops in your town or at the rental department of hardware stores such as Home Depot

Instructions

Mount the wire stripping machine to a workbench for stability.

Adjust the feed rotor on the wire stripping machine for thick, heavy gauges, such as 4 or lower.

Adjust blade depth based according to the gauge you're using.

Insert the beginning of the copper wire into the feed slot for small gauges, such as 6 and above.

Turn on the wire stripping machine and let the wire feed through the machine until it has all been cut. Turn off the machine.

Gather up the cut wire that comes out of the exit slot of the machine once all of the wire has been cut.
7

Pull away the cut insulation from the copper wire.
